WURTSBORO – A proposal to close exit 114 on Route 17 has caught the eye of Congressman Marc Molinaro (R, NY-19) and he has written to State Transportation Commissioner Marie Therese Dominguez urging her to reconsider the move.
”It is clear that closing Exit 114 would have a negative ripple effect across the Wurtsboro community and comes with major economic and safety concerns,” he wrote in a letter to the commissioner. “Therefore, I urge you to keep Exit 114 on Route 17 open.”
The congressman sent Dominguez a petition with some 3,500 signatures urging the exit to remain open “to highlight how important it is to keep Exit 114 open,” said Molinaro.
The potential closure is part of the eventual conversion of Route 17 from a New York highway to Interstate 86.
